THE MONTEGUE ARMS - BARNWELL
The Montagu Arms is affectionately known by our team and regulars as “The Monty”
What is now The Monty was initially constructed as four small cottages for the craftsman who would build the new Barnwell Manor. One of these cottages would become Barnwell’s first inn in the early 1800s, being extended into a second cottage in the early 1900s. By the mid-1900s all 4 cottages would now be absorbed to become the pub, with later extensions in 1982 to create a restaurant and in 2004 to extend that restaurant, enlarge the kitchen and add disabled facilities.
